Trees are one of the many natural beauties growing from the Earth all around us. They do so much for us, other providing shade from the sun, of course. However, humanity has begun a new age of society, and deforestation plays a big, bad, role in it. Jim Robbins, veteran journalist at Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, emphasizes the following â€Å"Wiping forests high in biodiversity off the land for monoculture plantations causes numerous environmental problems, from the destruction of wildlife habitat to the rapid release of stored carbon, which contributes to global warming.† (Yale Environment 360) Robbins implies that by cutting down so much of our natural greens, deforestation causes many problems, not only endangering†¦show more content†¦Taking away these â€Å"tools† means that places like rainforests can’t function properly, and will ruin the rainforests with the ecosystems to follow soon after. In fact, ecosystems play a huge ro le in an ecosystem as large as a rainforest, and deforestation is its greatest enemy. Ever since the time of dinosaurs, animals of all kind have depended so much on trees for food, shelter, and survival. Fast forward to the twentieth century, and many animals have begun to lose their essentials for survival. Deforestation affects animals so badly that it can reduce a well populated species to extinction. The Rainforest Conservation Fund explains that â€Å"Animals dependent upon trees or other vegetation for food, shelter, water, and breeding sites also disappear. Only those animals (generally the larger ones) which can migrate to contiguous forest areas survive.† The Rainforest Conservation shows just how dependent animals are on their habitats and why they need it so much. Without their resources, the animals can no longer thrive, and the entire ecosystem will fall into disarray.
